Product Overview

SHMP is an inorganic polyphosphate. It acts as a chelating agent that forms soluble complexes with metal ions (Calcium, Magnesium, Iron). This prevents these metals from reacting and forming scale (insoluble deposits) in pipes and boilers. It also acts as a dispersing agent, keeping particles suspended in liquids.

  • Scale Inhibition: Prevents the formation of Calcium Carbonate scale in boiler tubes and cooling towers.
  • Corrosion Control: Forms a thin protective film on metal surfaces, reducing corrosion rates.
  • Deflocculation: Reduces viscosity in ceramic slurries and drilling muds.

Mechanism: The "Chelation Master"

How does it stop Scale?

Scale (Lime) forms when Calcium ions meet Carbonate ions. SHMP prevents this meeting via Sequestration.

  • The Capture: The long phosphate chains of SHMP wrap around the Calcium and Magnesium ions, locking them inside a ring structure (Chelation).
  • Result: Even though the Calcium is still in the water, it is "hidden" inside the SHMP molecule. It cannot react to form scale, and the water behaves as if it is soft. This is called the "Threshold Effect."
