Reactive Black B

Vinyl Sulfone Based Reactive Dye (VS)

Reactive Black B (Reactive Black 5) is the world's most widely used reactive dye for cotton and cellulosic fibers. It creates a deep, intense black shade with excellent fastness properties. Ruvon supplies the high-concentration 133% Strength grade, ensuring superior color yield and cost-effectiveness in dyeing processes.

CAS Number 17095-24-8
Strength 133% (Conc.)
Solubility > 100 g/l

Product Overview

Reactive Black B contains two Vinyl Sulfone groups, making it a "bi-functional" dye. This unique structure allows it to bond chemically with cellulose fibers, resulting in vibrant colors that do not fade easily during washing.

  • Deep Jet Black: Produces the darkest black shades (Jet Black) on cotton fabrics.
  • High Exhaustion: Excellent dye uptake means less dye is wasted in the effluent water.
  • Versatility: Suitable for Exhaust dyeing, Cold Pad Batch (CPB), and Continuous dyeing methods.

The Vinyl Sulfone (VS) Mechanism

Permanent Chemical Bonding

Reactive dyes are unique because they don't just "sit" on the fiber; they become part of it. The Vinyl Sulfone group reacts with the hydroxyl (-OH) group of cellulose in the presence of alkali (Soda Ash).

  • Covalent Bond: This reaction forms a strong ether linkage. Once fixed, the dye molecule cannot be washed out easily.
  • Easy Wash-Off: While the fixed dye is permanent, the unfixed (hydrolyzed) dye washes off easily, ensuring good wet fastness and no bleeding.

Textile Applications

Cotton Knitwear

Used extensively for dyeing t-shirts, hosiery, and innerwear in Jet Dyeing machines.

Woven Fabrics

Ideal for Jigger and Pad-Batch dyeing of cotton shirting and bottom weights.

Viscose & Rayon

Provides brilliant shades on regenerated cellulose fibers.

Textile Printing

Used in printing pastes for reactive printing on cotton fabrics.

Yarn Dyeing

Package dyeing of cotton yarn for weaving and knitting.

Denim

Used for over-dyeing denim to achieve "Deep Black" or "Carbon Black" shades.

Packaging Options

25 KG Corrugated Cartons

With double plastic liners to prevent moisture absorption.

25 KG HDPE Drums

Robust packing for export and rough handling.

Safety & Handling Protocols

Dust Handling

Reactive dyes are generally fine powders.

  • Inhalation: Dye dust can cause respiratory sensitization. Always wear a NIOSH-approved dust mask.
  • Skin Contact: May stain skin permanently or cause irritation. Wear gloves and long sleeves.
  • Spillage: Vacuum up spills to avoid creating dust clouds. Wash area with water.
