Brilliant Scarlet / C.I. 16255
Acid Red 18 (also known as Ponceau 4R or Brilliant Scarlet) is a highly soluble synthetic azo dye. It produces a vibrant, strawberry-red to scarlet shade. While famous as a food color (E124), our technical grade is optimized for the textile industry (Wool/Nylon dyeing) and home care formulations due to its exceptional stability in acidic environments.
Acid Red 18 is an anionic dye that is applied from an acidic bath. It is renowned for its leveling properties, meaning it spreads evenly across the fabric without patchiness. It is chemically stable, light-fast, and compatible with various other acid dyes for shade matching.
Guaranteed concentration for consistent shade reproducibility.

Acid Red 18 contains sulphonic acid groups ($SO_3^-$), which give it a negative charge. Protein fibers like Wool, Silk, and Nylon contain amino groups ($NH_2$).
Primary dye for Wool, Silk, Nylon, and Polyamide fabrics requiring bright red shades.
Used to color Toilet Bowl Cleaners (Harpic type), liquid detergents, and hand washes due to acid stability.
Used for surface dyeing and spray coating of leather goods to achieve vivid scarlet tones.
Component in water-based writing inks and felt-tip marker formulations.
Used as a seed colorant to identify treated seeds and fertilizers.
Used in water tracing studies due to its high visibility and solubility.
Standard export packing with double liner.
Durable packing for long-distance transport.
Acid Red 18 is generally considered low toxicity but is a fine powder.
High Concentration Brilliant Scarlet. Ideal for Textiles and Detergents.
