Acid Red 18 (also known as Ponceau 4R or Brilliant Scarlet) is a highly soluble synthetic azo dye. It produces a vibrant, strawberry-red to scarlet shade. While famous as a food color (E124), our technical grade is optimized for the textile industry (Wool/Nylon dyeing) and home care formulations due to its exceptional stability in acidic environments.
Acid Red 18 is an anionic dye that is applied from an acidic bath. It is renowned for its leveling properties, meaning it spreads evenly across the fabric without patchiness. It is chemically stable, light-fast, and compatible with various other acid dyes for shade matching.

Acid Red 18 contains sulphonic acid groups ($SO_3^-$), which give it a negative charge. Protein fibers like Wool, Silk, and Nylon contain amino groups ($NH_2$).
