Rhodamine B 540% Strength: 540% Extra Pure
Class: Xanthene Dye

Basic Violet 10

Rhodamine B (540% High Strength)

Basic Violet 10, widely known as Rhodamine B, is a brilliant, high-strength cationic dye. It is famous for its unique visual property: the powder appears as shimmering green crystals, but when dissolved in water, it produces an intensely bright, fluorescent pink/violet solution.

C.I. Number 45170
CAS Number 81-88-9
Fluorescence Strong (Orange/Red)

Product Overview

Ruvon's Rhodamine B 540% is the highest commercial strength available. It offers exceptional cost-efficiency because even a tiny amount creates a vivid color. It is primarily used in applications where brightness and visibility are paramount, such as paper dyeing, fluorescent pigments, and safety markers.

  • Dual Personality: Green shiny powder → Bright Pink/Violet Liquid.
  • Solubility: Excellent solubility in water, alcohol, and cellosolve.
  • Affinity: Strong affinity for paper pulp, silk, wool, and tannin-mordanted cotton.

The Science of "Glow"

Why does it look Green but turn Pink?

Rhodamine B exhibits a physical phenomenon called Solid State Metallic Luster. The crystals absorb light in such a way that they reflect a metallic green sheen. However, when dissolved:

  • Fluorescence (Stokes Shift): The molecules absorb UV and visible light energy and re-emit it at a lower energy (longer wavelength), which we see as a glowing, neon-like pink/orange light.
  • Visibility: This "glow" makes it visible even at extremely low concentrations (parts per billion), making it perfect for tracing water leaks.

Industrial Applications

Paper Industry

Used to dye crepe paper, tissue paper, and file covers where bright pink/red shades are needed.

Mosquito Coils

The primary dye used to give mosquito repellent coils their distinct red/pink color.

Inks & Stationery

Used in ballpoint pen inks, stamp pads, and bright fluorescent highlighters.

Leak Detection

Used as a tracer dye in water systems, sewage lines, and industrial pipes to find leaks.

Textiles

Dyeing of wool, silk, and acrylic fibers. (Less common for cotton due to poor light fastness).

Pigment Manufacturing

Used to manufacture "Phosphotungstic Acid" (PTA) lakes for pink pigments.

Packaging Options

25 KG Iron/MS Drums

Standard packing. Strong drums prevent crystal breakage and leakage.

25 KG HDPE Drums

Corrosion-free option for export markets.

Safety & Handling Protocols

Safety First

Rhodamine B is a potent chemical dye.

  • PPE: Essential. Wear gloves, goggles, and a dust mask. It will stain skin for days if contacted.
  • Inhalation: Avoid breathing dust. It can irritate the respiratory tract.
  • Use Restriction: strictly prohibited in food products. Industrial use only.
