Reactive Yellow 145 150% Conc. Strength
Type: Heterobifunctional (MCT + VS)

Reactive Yellow MERL

C.I. Reactive Yellow 145 (Golden Yellow)

Reactive Yellow 145 is a high-performance "Golden Yellow" dye widely used in the textile industry. It belongs to the "Bifunctional" class of dyes (MERL/HE Brand), offering superior fixation, reproducibility, and level dyeing properties on cotton and viscose rayon compared to standard vinyl sulfone dyes.

C.I. Number 17901
CAS Number 80157-00-2
Substantivity High

Product Overview

Reactive Yellow MERL (145) is designed for modern exhaust dyeing processes (60°C - 80°C). It is a key component of the "Golden Trichromy" (Yellow 145, Red 195, Blue 221), which is used to produce 80% of all tertiary shades (browns, olives, greys) in the industry due to their compatible dyeing kinetics.

  • High Fixation: >80% fixation rate means less dye is washed down the drain (lower effluent load).
  • Robustness: Insensitive to minor variations in temperature, salt, or liquor ratio, ensuring consistent results batch after batch.
  • Leveling: Excellent migration properties allow the dye to spread evenly, preventing patches.

Technical Specifications & Fastness

Mechanism: The "Double Anchor"

Why Bifunctional (MCT + VS)?

Ordinary reactive dyes have one reactive group. Yellow 145 has Two Different Groups attached to the same molecule:

  • Vinyl Sulfone (VS): Reacts fast and provides high color yield.
  • Monochlorotriazine (MCT): Reacts slower but forms a very stable bond.
  • Result: If one bond breaks during washing or usage, the other holds on. This creates superior washing fastness and "Foolproof" dyeing even if process conditions vary.

Textile Applications

Trichromy Mixing

The industry standard Yellow component for creating Browns, Olives, and Earth tones.

Knitwear & Hosiery

Used for dyeing cotton knits due to its excellent leveling and wash-off properties.

Yarn Dyeing

High solubility and circulation properties make it ideal for Package Dyeing machines.

Home Textiles

Used for bed linen and towels requiring high oxidative bleach resistance.

Continuous Dyeing

Suitable for Pad-Dry-Pad-Steam (PDPS) and Cold Pad Batch (CPB) methods.

Viscose & Rayon

Provides deep, golden yellow shades on regenerated cellulose fibers.

Packaging Options

25 KG Corrugated Boxes

Standard packing with double liners to prevent moisture ingress.

25 KG HDPE Drums

Robust packing for export and humid storage conditions.

Safety & Handling Protocols

Dust Handling

Reactive dyes are fine powders. Dust control is essential.

  • Inhalation: Use local exhaust ventilation. Wear a NIOSH-approved dust mask to prevent respiratory sensitization.
  • Skin Contact: Will stain skin yellow. Wear rubber gloves and long sleeves.
  • Spillage: Vacuum up spills. Do not wash down with water unless contained (to prevent colored effluent).
